One you set up the quiz to utilize tag rules to determine what questions should be displayed to a student, you next need to set up the rules themselves. The rules determine what questions are included and how many questions are included from each rule.
Rules match against one or more question tags. For example, you may have a question tags for "lecture," "reading," "multipleChoice," and "essay." You could then create the following rules:
- Include 5 questions that match both the "lecture" and "multipleChoice" tags.
- Include 5 questions that match both the "reading" and "multipleChoice" tags.
- Include 2 questions that match only the "essay" tag.
Each student's quiz would then include a total of 12 questions. The questions for each quiz would be different, but all quizzes would include questions based on the rules listed above. Questions selected for inclusion are only pulled from those in the pool of questions available for the quiz, not from all questions which happen to belong to a course.
As you create rules, you can test the rules to see exactly the kind of randomized results students will receive when they take the quiz.
Important: You must have tags on your questions in order for tag rule-based quizzes to work. If you do not have tags on your questions, the rules engine cannot select any questions for inclusion in the quiz.
