The Quiz Generator has a number of tools that allow you to give students non-standard, or "special," access to quizzes. All of these tools can be found on the Special Permissions page for any quiz in the Quiz Generator.
The following kinds of special permissions are available:
Give Access Outside of Standard Quiz Dates — You can allow a student to access a quiz before or after it is normally available to students in the class. You can specify days and even times in which the student can access the quiz.
Additional Time to Complete the Quiz — You may have students who have registered accommodations which require time and a half (or double time) on all quizzes and exams. You can easily give those students special permission to do so. You might also need to give a student who had a technical problem additional time to complete a quiz.
Additional Access to the Quiz — If your quiz is set up to only allow single access to the quiz, and the student leaves the quiz page, you can allow the student to return to the quiz one (or more) additional times. You can also prevent the student from changing any existing answers in this case.
Allow Additional Full Attempts on a Quiz — If your quiz is set up to allow multiple attempts, and a students exhausts all of those attempts, you can allow the student additional attempts.
All of these options are available on the Special Permissions page in a quiz.
How to Get to the Special Permissions Page in a Quiz
- Click Quiz Generator under Activities and Assignments on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the quiz title on the main Quiz Generator page.
- Click Special Permissions in the main navigation bar at the top of the page.
What Happens upon Granting Special Access
- When Grant Special Access is used, an email is automatically sent to the student. The email alerts the student of their special permissions. It includes the date range for their access and any other special permissions. The email also includes a link to the quiz.
- When the student accesses the quiz—using the link in the email or on the course site—CoursePlus grants special permissions knowing that student’s personal login to CoursePlus.
