If your quiz is set up to only allow single access to the quiz, and the student leaves the quiz page, you can allow the student to return to the quiz one (or more) additional times. You can also prevent the student from changing any existing answers in this case.
Note: There is an important difference between the number of accesses to a quiz and attempts on a quiz. Whereas an attempt refers to a full completion of a quiz by clicking the Submit Answers button, an access of a quiz simply refers to any viewing of the quiz page. For more information on the distinction, please refer to this guide.
How to Allow Additional Access to a Single-Access Quiz
- Click Quiz Generator under Activities and Assignments on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the quiz title on the main Quiz Generator page.
- Click Responses and Grades in the main navigation bar at the top of the page.
- Click the name of the student you want to give additional access.
- Under Options, click Change Answers Back Into an Active Quiz.
- You will be taken to the Special Permissions page. If needed, click Special Permissions in the main navigation bar at the top of the page to go to this page.
- Click the name of the student in the list on the left.
- Enter the number of times the student can access the quiz in the Number of Times the Student Can Access the Quiz box.
- If you do not want to let the student change answers on any question they have answered thus far, click the Do Not Allow Student to Change Existing Answers checkbox.
- Click Grant Special Access.
Example: If your quiz is set up to allow single access, but you need to allow a student to access the quiz one more time (provided that the time allotted for the quiz has not yet run out), enter "2" in the Number of Times the Student Can Access the Quiz box. That's one (1) for the default single access and one (1) for allowing the student to access the quiz one more time.
