As you build your quiz, you will adjust setup options, add questions to the quiz, and make adjustments to individual questions. You will want to make sure that the quiz appears to students exactly as you expect. If you're not familiar with the many, many options that the Quiz Generator offers, you might want to make adjustments and then see how that plays out in the student view. You can see what the students will see when they take a quiz using the quiz preview tool.
How to Preview a Quiz as Students Will See It
- Click Quiz Generator under Activities and Assignments on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the quiz title on the main Quiz Generator page.
- Click Preview in the main navigation bar at the top of the page.
- Click Test the Quiz.
Why Am I Not Seeing Changes When I Preview the Quiz?
The Quiz Generator goes to great lengths to ensure that a student sees exactly the same thing no matter how many times they access a quiz. This is critical when you have so many randomization and security options. The same code that builds the quiz for students powers the quiz preview.
Like students, each time you preview a quiz, you see exactly what you saw before unless one of the following happens:
- You submit answers to the quiz, thus completing that attempt on the quiz.
- Time runs out to complete the quiz, and answers are submitted.
- You start over with a fresh copy of the quiz by clicking start over with a blank copy of this quiz on the quiz preview page.
As you work on your quiz, you will want to click start over with a blank copy of this quiz often. You won't want to do this, however, if you want to test what happens when a student leaves the quiz page and returns to it again at a later time.
