Putting weblinks in the Online Library allows you to create a reference list of websites and resources that are useful to the students in your class.
Note: If you are using a URL shortening service such as Tiny URL or bit.ly to replace long web addresses, make sure that the link is written using the "https://" prefix. For example, a shortened URL should look something like https://tinyurl/example or https://bit.ly/example. If the URL is typed with "www" at the start of the address or without "https://" in the address, students may not be able to view the web page correctly.
Weblink Options
All weblinks require two pieces of data:
- Link URL — This is the actual link you want to share. Must begin with https:// or http://
- Folder — The Online Library folder into which you want to place the link.
All weblinks have the following optional metadata that can be set on each individual link:
Link Title — This should be a human-readable title for students. If link file title is used, the full link is displayed in the Online Library instead.
Description — An optional text description about the weblink and how it might be used or other additional annotative information.
Date Posted — The date that the weblink was posted to the Online Library. This is displayed to students unless this option is turned off.
Link to Pages — If you use Page Builder in your CoursePlus site, you can link this weblink to a Page Builder page. The weblink is then displayed on the Page Builder page in the Online Library section of the page.
Link to Class Sessions — If you use the Class Sessions tool in your CoursePlus site, you can link this weblink to an individual class session. The weblink is then displayed in the box for the class session under the Online Library subheading.
Importance — If you would like to mark an item as Required, Reference, or Optional, select the appropriate label here.
Additional Options:
Make this Link Available For — If you have a link that you only want to use in the current offering of the class and not have that file copied into future offerings of the class, select This offering only from this menu.
Link to Syllabus — Selecting this checkbox makes the link visible on the public course syllabus page in a section titled Files from the Online Library.
