It is possible to prevent specific students from seeing a file in the Online Library. You may want to do this if you post an answer key to an assignment and specific students have not yet completed that assignment.
If a file is restricted for a student, the student will not see the file in the Online Library (or any sub-view of the Online Library), nor will the file appear in the ZIP file of all items in the Online Library for that student.
How to Restrict Access to a File in the Online Library
- Click Online Library under Content Tools > Course Resources on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Add or edit a file.
- Click Show Additional Options at the bottom of the file form.
- Find the Restrict Access field at the end of the form.
- Click the checkbox next to the name(s) of the student(s) that should not have access to this file.
- Save your work.
You can remove the access restriction for a student by following the steps above but deselecting the checkbox next to the name of the student who should now have access to the file.
