Folders allow us to organize the files in the Online Library into meaningful groups. Folders are often used to group files by week or module in the class. Folders can also be used to group together homework files, LiveTalk slides, and more. All items in an Online Library need to go into a folder. One folder — "General" — exists by default, but you can add more.
Folder Options
All folders have the following optional metadata that can be set on each individual folder:
Subfolder of — Folders can be placed inside of other folders. If you want to do that, select the parent folder for the folder here.
Link to Pages — If you use Page Builder in your CoursePlus site, you can link this folder to a Page Builder page. The folder and the contents of the folder are then displayed on the Page Builder page in the Online Library section of the page.
Link to Class Sessions — If you use the Class Sessions tool in your CoursePlus site, you can link this folder to an individual class session. The folder and the contents of the folder are then displayed in the box for the class session under the Online Library subheading.
Use Open Date — If you do not want the folder and the contents of the folder displayed to students until a certain date, enter that here. Faculty and TAs can see the folder and its contents before that date, but students cannot.
Use Close Date — If you want to remove access to the folder and the contents of the folder after a certain date, enter that here. Faculty and TAs can see the folder and its contents after that date, but students cannot.
Hidden Folder — Select this checkbox if you want to hide this folder and the contents of the folder from student view at all times. Faculty and TAs can see the folder and its contents, but students cannot. You can have subfolders of hidden folders.
How to Add a Folder to the Online Library
- Click Online Library under Content Tools > Course Resources on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click Add Folder.
- Type the folder name in the Folder Name field.
- Fill out additional data options as needed.
- Click Add Folder at the end of the add folder form.
How to Edit a Folder in the Online Library
- Click Online Library under Content Tools > Course Resources on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the Edit button (pencil icon) next to the folder you want to edit.
- Fill out data options as needed.
- Click Edit Folder at the end of the edit folder form.
