The Access of Individual Lecture Sections by Each Student report provides information on each student's lecture activity in a course. Students have access to a similar, personalized report called Lecture Tracker.
How to See Student Lecture Activity
- Navigate to the Faculty Tools page in your course site.
- Find Administrative Tools > Student Activity Reports.
- Under Lecture/Content Access, click Access of individual lecture sections.
The columns in the report list each lecture section in the course. You can hover over these columns to see the full title of the lecture section.
The rows list each student in the course, along with the following information:
- Lecture View: Shows the number of times that the student started playback of the lecture section in the browser OR downloaded the MP4/MP3 file.
- Viewed 80% of Section: Shows a checkmark if the student has watched at least 80% of the lecture section.
- PDF Download: Shows a checkmark if the student downloaded the PDF.
- MP3 Download: Shows a checkmark if the student downloaded the MP3.
- MP4 Download: Shows a checkmark if the student downloaded the MP4.
- Transcripts: Shows a checkmark if the student downloaded the transcript.
- First View: Shows a timestamp of the first time the student accessed the lecture section (via browser or download)
- Last View: Shows a timestamp of the last time the student accessed the lecture section (via browser or download)
If you scroll all the way to the right of the report, you will see a series of "total" statistics for each student. These statistics provide an overview of a student's activity across lecture sections. It also allows you to see if a student's viewed lectures are in-browser, downloaded, or a combination.
Similarly, if you scroll to the bottom of the report, you will see a series of "total" statistics for each lecture section.
Important: Though this report can be a useful resource, its scope is limited. For example, a student may click on or download a lecture section, but this does not necessarily mean that the student watched the lecture. The best method to assure that students have watched lectures is through assessment.
