Wikis: Viewing and Copying Wikis from a Previous Term

All Wikis are automatically archived at the end of each term and are not automatically copied over into a new term when the new term site is set up. These archived wikis are accessible any time that you want to view them via the View Wikis from Previous Terms tool. Only faculty and TAs can view a wiki from a previous term. If you want students to view a wiki from a previous term, you have to copy that into the current term.

 

How to View a Wiki from a Previous Term

  1. Click Wikis under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
  2. From the main Course Wikis page, click View Wikis from Previous Terms at the top of the page.
  3. Click the View link for the desired wiki.

You can move between pages and click History to view the different versions of an individual page. You can create a PDF file of the wiki by clicking the All Pages to PDF tab.

 

How to Copy a Wiki Into the Current Course and Make it Editable

An editable copy of a wiki from the previous term allows faculty, TAs and students to view and modify the content of the copied wiki. The wiki will appear in the All Course Wikis list like any of the other wikis that were created in the current term.

  1. Click Wikis under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
  2. From the main Course Wikis page, click View Wikis from Previous Terms at the top of the page.
  3. In the Copy into Current Term As column, click the Editable Wiki link for the desired wiki.
  4. Click OK to proceed with copying the editable wiki.

 

How to Copy a Wiki Into the Current Course and Make It Non-Editable

A non-editable copy of a wiki from the previous term can only be viewed. Even faculty and TAs are not able to modify the content. Non-editable copies appear in the All Course Wikis list with the label "(Archive)."

  1. Click Wikis under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
  2. From the main Course Wikis page, click View Wikis from Previous Terms at the top of the page.
  3. In the Copy into Current Term As column, click the Non–Editable Wiki link for the desired wiki.
  4. Click OK to proceed with copying the editable wiki.
