AI Defender is one of four tools included in Assignment Assistant. AI Defender analyzes an existing assignment and identifies elements that could be completed using generative AI tools. Based on this analysis, it provides specific recommendations to modify the assignment, making it more resistant to AI-generated responses while preserving learning objectives and academic standards.

How to Utilize AI Defender Output
Review and edit the feedback being mindful of the Assignment Assistant tools' terms of use and the following:
- Suggested modifications may impact the feasibility of the assignment. Consider the time it takes for students to complete the assignment and for the faculty team to provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Suggested modifications may dictate changes in course design and facilitation. This includes consideration of the course design, including Drop Box setup, and plans for synchronous time.
- Always proofread and edit the assignment's final instructions for clarity, spelling, grammar, and accessibility. Learn about Digital Accessibility Expectations of BSPH Faculty.
- Above all, start with transparency. The most crucial step in deterring students from using AI in an assignment is to be clear about your expectations and the rationale for avoiding AI. The University's guidance, How to Redesign the Assessment to Cope with AI Challenges, provides further information.
To save the output, you can copy the text, download a PDF file, or download a Word file. All of these options are listed at the top and bottom of the output page.
Note: Assignment Assistant does not retain generated output. Therefore, leaving the page without saving the information will result in a loss of the response. However, you are free to generate again.
