Group submission-enabled Drop Boxes allow one student in a group to submit an assignment for the entire group. Once the student selects their group and uploads the assignment, the View Submissions page will show that all the students in that group submitted their assignment. This option is only available when course groups are set up in a course. For information on creating course groups please visit the course groups page.
Note: A group-enabled Drop Box cannot be set to accept timed assignments. Once a Drop Box is set to group submission-enabled, the timed assignment option is no longer available for that Drop Box.
How to Enable Group Submissions When Creating a New Drop Box
- As you create your new drop box, select Yes for the Can Students Submit on Behalf of a Group? question.
How to Enable Group Submissions When Editing an Existing Drop Box
- As you create edit an existing drop box, select Yes for the Can Students Submit on Behalf of a Group? question.
Once you enable this feature, an alert will appear at the top letting you know the Drop Box is now group-enabled. A small box beneath the Drop Box name on the main Course Drop Box page will also display Group Submissions Allowed.
