After your LiveTalk, you need to post the recording of the session so that everyone can review the material covered during the session.
It's important to note that you have two options for posting the LiveTalk recordings:
- Download and post the recording files to CoursePlus.
- Provide a direct link to the recording on Zoom.
You can do both of these things, or just one, but you must do at least one after the LiveTalk. There are pros and cons to each approach, which are discussed below.
Managing the Recordings for a LiveTalk Session
- Go to the LiveTalk page by clicking Communication then LiveTalk at the top of any page in your class site.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the list of LiveTalks in the class.
- Click Manage Recordings on the far right of the appropriate session. This button only appears after the end of the scheduled LiveTalk session.
How to Download and Post LiveTalk Recording Files to CoursePlus
- Download the MP4 (video) and transcript (vtt) for the session from the Zoom website.
- On the LiveTalk Manage Recordings page (see above), locate the section to Upload Zoom Recording to Permanent Storage.
- Click Choose File next to MP4 video of the recording.
- Find and select the MP4 (video) file of the recording that you downloaded from Zoom.
- Click Upload MP4 (Video).
- This upload may take a long time. The bigger the MP4 video file, the longer it will take. The spinner on the page will keep spinning until the video is uploaded. Once uploaded, a checkmark will appear in the Already Uploaded column of the page.
- Click Choose File next to VTT transcript file from the recording.
- Find and select the VTT (text) file of the transcript that you downloaded from Zoom.
- Click Upload Transcript.
How to Provide a Direct Link to a LiveTalk Recording on Zoom
If you do not want to download recording files from Zoom and post them into CoursePlus, you can provide a link to the recording on Zoom instead. However, this has a number of serious caveats:
- Recordings on Zoom expire 180 days after the date of the recording, at which point the recording's link will no longer appear on the class website.
- Students can only download recordings from the Zoom cloud if your recording's "Share" setting has this option enabled.
- CoursePlus cannot track activity for Zoom cloud recordings, including views and downloads.
If you want to provide the direct link to a recording on Zoom, do the following:
- On the LiveTalk Manage Recordings page (see above), locate the section to Provide a Link to a Cloud Recording on Zoom.
- Copy the link to the recording from Zoom and paste it into the Link to Recording on Zoom box.
- If your Zoom cloud recording requires a password, enter it into the Recording Passcode box.
- Click Save Link to Recording on Zoom.
