The Directory Tab
The Directory tab lists all members of the course including students, faculty, and staff. Use this tab's functions to search for recipients according to their role in the course or group membership.
Selecting Everyone in the Class as a Recipient
- Select "Everyone" for Send Message To (this is the default).
- Click Select listed just above the list of names.
How to Select Individual Recipients for a Message

Filter the list by group of people as you wish.

Select all the recipients you want by clicking the box next to each name.
Select Specific Groups of Recipients
The class email tool allows you to filter the list of possible recipients so that only people in that category appear. The available roles are:

Everyone
-
Students
-
Faculty/Staff
-
Course Groups
Note: The Display on the class email archive page checkbox is selected by default when all users in "Everyone" and "Students" lists are selected.

Click the Send Message To dropdown menu

Choose the group you want to view.

To email the entire selected group, click the Select listed checkbox. Otherwise, check the names of the individual recipients you want.

Repeat steps 1-3 to choose additional recipients from other groups.
How to Search for a Specific Email Recipient

Use the search field

Begin typing the first or last name of the recipient you want. Names that fit the criteria will appear as you enter letters.

Once you have the person you want, check the box next to their name to make it appear in the To field.
Adding CC: Recipients
CC recipients are limited to faculty, TAs, and staff on a course. Students cannot be CC: recipients.
- Select Faculty/Staff in the Send Message To dropdown menu.
- Select "CC" from the TO/CC menu next to the appropriate person's name.
Removing To: or CC: Recipients
There may be times when you need to change or remove names from the To: and/or CC: fields. Since you do not have access to these fields by typing into them, you will need to deselect the names from the directory tab.
