Posts are the basic units of communication in the Discussion Forum. You create a message by typing the information you wish to share and then "posting" (sending) the message. Posts can include images, video, and a wide range of rich text formatting.
When a new topic is created, the first post in that topic is created at the same time. Therefore, you'll always reply to someone else's post in a topic.
How to Reply to a Topic
- Click Discussion Forum under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the topic you want to post in on the Discussion Forum home view.
- Read through all the messages in the topic.
- Click inside the rich text editor at the bottom of the the topic.

Type your reply.
- Click Reply to post your message.
How to Directly Reply to a Post
- Click Discussion Forum under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the topic you want to post in on the Discussion Forum home view.
- Find the post to which you want to directly reply.

Click the Reply to Post link that is immediately below the post to which you want to directly reply.

The Post Reply window will open.

Type your reply.

Click Reply to post your direct response.
How to Add an Attachment to a Post
When you are creating a new topic or replying to an existing post:

Click the Browse... button in the Attach File field.

Search for and select the file on your computer that you would like to attach.

Click the Open/Upload button. The file name will appear in the Attachments field.

Click Create Topic/Reply.
How to Edit a Post
Students can only edit their posts. Faculty can add restrictions which prevent editing more than 15 minutes after the original time of posting the message.
- Click Discussion Forum under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the topic where the post exists on the Discussion Forum home view.
- Find the post to which you want to edit.

Click Edit this post (pencil icon). The Edit Post window will open.

Make changes as necessary.

Click the Save Changes button to save changes.
How to Move a Single Post
- Click Discussion Forum under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the topic where the post exists on the Discussion Forum home view.
- Find the post to which you want to move.

Click Move this post ( icon).

Once the Move Post window pops up, select the topic that you would like to move the post to.

Click Move.
How to Delete a Post
Students can only delete their own posts. Faculty can add restrictions which prevent deleting more than 15 minutes after the original time of posting the message.
- Click Discussion Forum under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the topic where the post exists on the Discussion Forum home view.
- Find the post to which you want to delete.

Click Delete this post ( icon).

Click I'm Sure!.
If a post is deleted that has replies (sub posts), a message will appear stating that the main post has been deleted. The delete message will remain as long as there are reply messages listed directly below it.
