Once a post exists in a Discussion Forum topic, there are a number of tools which let you interact with and manage each post. Some of these options are available to faculty and TAs only.
Mark This as Important — If faculty or TAs want to mark a particular message as important for everyone in the class (maybe it's the answer to someone's question, for example), they can do so. A message that's marked as important by the faculty or TAs can also have an explanation as to why that message was marked as important. When a specific message is marked as important, a Comment field appears so the person marking the message as important can explain why they marked the message as important.
Move This Post — You have the option to move an individual post to a different topic. Responses to this post (if any) will also be moved.
Edit This Post — By default, students are able to edit posts that they've created without a time limit. However, faculty and TAs have the option of limiting the time to edit a post after it's been created to 15 minutes. If you edit your post after it was originally posted, a note appears below your post indicating the date and time that you edited the post.
Delete This Post — By default, students are able to delete posts that they've created without a time limit. However, faculty and TAs have the option of limiting the time to delete a post after it's been created to 15 minutes. If a post is deleted that has replies (sub posts), a message will appear stating that the main post has been deleted. The delete message will remain as long as there are reply messages listed directly below it.
Bookmark This Post — Clicking the bookmark icon will save the post on the bookmark page for quick and easy referencing. The bookmark icon will turn yellow ( ) letting you know that the post has been saved.
Emoji Reactions — Students and faculty can react to posts without having to create short, redundant posts like "I agree" or "That's interesting." Instead, simple, common emoji are used to display reactions. For each reaction that is selected, a counter appears next to the emoji indicating the number of people who selected that reaction. Mousing over the counter number reveals the names of the people who selected that reaction.
