What Do I Need Adobe Reader For?
PDF is a technology developed by Adobe that allows for consistent printing and viewing of complex documents available on the World Wide Web. Adobe (Acrobat) Reader is an application that opens PDF files. Both Windows and the MacOS have built in PDF readers, but Adobe Reader is the most robust and reliable.
Many sites on the web, especially government sites such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), use PDF files to make sure that complex tables and data formatting are retained when reports or other documents are downloaded by public health professionals, scientists, doctors, and other interested individuals around the world.
You can download Adobe Reader from Adobe's website.
Note: If you already have Adobe Reader version 9 or later installed on your computer, you do not need to download and install it again.
