If you have already created some course groups but still need to add students, you have two options: manually assigning students to the groups or randomly assigning them.
How to Randomly Assign Students to Empty Groups
- Click Course Groups under Communication Tools on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Click the Create Group button at the top left side of the page.
- Click Assign Students Randomly from the dropdown menu.
- Click Choose existing empty group(s) to assign students to under New or Existing Groups?.
- Select which groups to include. Students will be divided among the selected groups as evenly as possible.
- Verify that the Summary reflects the group creation as expected.
- Click Assign Students.
Note: A group must be empty for it to be included in the list of available groups.
