Filling out a rubric is at the center of the Peer Assessment tool. It provides students with the opportunity to give constructive feedback to their peers, whether they simply be other students in the course or fellow members of the same course group.
How to Complete the Rubric of a Peer Assessment
- Click Content in the main menu bar at the top of any page.
- Find the Peer Assessment assignment listed among the schedule.
- Click the hyperlink for the Peer Assessment.
- The My Assignments tab will automatically open.
- Click the name of the student who you wish to assess. This will pull up the rubric to assess them in a pop-up window.
- If the assessment is linked to a Drop Box, use the Download Student File to Assess button at the top of the form to access the student's file.
- For each criterion, click the cell that corresponds with the desired performance level. This will autofill the number of points the student receives for that criterion; however, you may also manually enter a different value, such as a decimal.
Note: You can enter any zero or positive number in the Points field. This provides flexibility between the performance level and actual score given.
- For each criterion, enter any comments in the text box below Explain your choice. Comments may be required by the teaching team for a given assessment.
- At the end of the form, enter any final comments in the text box below Additional comments and feedback.
- Click Save Progress to save your work if not fully finished.
- Click Complete if you are ready to submit the Peer Assessment rubric for the student.
- If there are any additional students to assess, repeat steps 5-11.
Important: For Peer Assessments that utilize the Drop Box tool, the student being assessed must have uploaded to the Drop Box before an assessor can download the file and properly evaluate the work. If you do not see a button to download a student's Drop Box submission at the top of their rubric, that means the student has not submitted a file.
