The My Discussion Forum segment of the main Discussion Forum home page lets you see new activity relevant to you. This tool has three major sections: New Since Last Visit, New Replies to Me, and My Posts. The New Since Last Visit and New Replies to Me sections appear as tabs that list posts by category and then topic, so you can see the context in which the posts were made. The My Posts tab displays posts in which you are the originator for easy access to those posts to respond.
As you browse the listings in each of these views, you have the option of going to the original message if you want to respond to the message or see the full topic. After you view the topic in which the new post or reply exists, that post is marked as being read by you and no longer shows up in the New Since Last Visit or New Replies to Me views.
As you work your way through posts in the New Since Last Visit or New Replies to Me views, you can mark the posts in each individual topic in those views as read. This automatically updates the left-side navigation bar so that you no longer see NEW indicators next to items that you've marked as read. If you don't visit the topic in which a new post exists, or if you don't click one of the Mark as read links, then the post(s) will continue to show up in the New Since Last Visit view. This way, you aren't obliged to read all new posts at once. You can take your time reviewing posts.
