Set a Drop Box to Anonymize Submissions

The anonymized assignments feature allows you to set up a Drop Box so that it randomizes the file names of uploaded student assignments, thereby making them anonymous. You may want to use this feature for when TAs are in charge of grading assignments. Assignment Drop Boxes can be set to anonymized at any time.

Note: Although submissions can be made anonymous, a key is provided to view a list of student names with their associated unique identifier.

How to Set a New Drop Box to Anonymized Assignments

  1. Follow the standard process to create a new Drop Box.
  2. Select the Yes for Anonymize names of downloaded files?.
  3. Click Add Drop Box to finish the process.

 

How to Set an Existing Drop Box to Anonymized Assignments

  1. Follow the standard process to edit an existing Drop Box.
  2. Select the Yes for Anonymize names of downloaded files?
  3. Click Save Changes to finish the process.

Note: A group-enabled drop box cannot be set to accept anonymized assignments. Once a Drop Box is set to group-enabled, the anonymized assignment option disappears.
