In the Class Sessions configuration, there were top-level tabs on the Content page that allowed students to quickly access quizzes, surveys, and the link to course evaluations:
As part of the conversion to Schedule Builder, these tabs are no longer present. In order to provide students access to the aforementioned items moving forward, you will need to break each of them out into their own events on the schedule. This encourages the teaching team to display all of the course content in the same place, which makes everything consistent and keeps due dates clear for students.
Below is an overview of how it is recommended to share these pieces of course content moving forward.
Quizzes
To share a quiz with students, first ensure that you have created a quiz. Once a quiz you wish to share has been created, follow these steps:
- Click Schedule Builder on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Either click on the light blue bar for an existing event in the schedule or create a new event by clicking Add New Event.
- Select Quiz from the Associate Event with dropdown.
- Select the specific quiz you want to link to from the second dropdown.
- Consider if you want to use the start/end dates currently set in Quiz Generator for this quiz. If so, click that checkbox.
- Otherwise, select the date on which you want the link to the quiz to become active in the Available On field.
- If the quiz has a due date, enter the due date in the Due Date field.
- If you want to turn off the link to the quiz at some point, enter that date in the Access Ends field.
- Click Save.
Surveys
To share a survey with students, first ensure that you have created a survey. Once a survey you wish to share has been created, follow these steps:
- Click Schedule Builder on the main Faculty Tools page.
- Either click on the light blue bar for the appropriate event in the schedule or create a new event by clicking Add New Event.
- Select Survey from the Associate Event with dropdown.
- Select the specific survey you want to link to from the second dropdown.
- Select the date on which you want the link to the survey to become active in the Available On field.
- If the survey has a due date, enter the due date in the Due Date field.
- If you want to turn off the link to the survey at some point, enter that date in the Access Ends field.
- Click Save.
Course Evaluations
Though there was previously a link to course evaluations in all Class Sessions setups, there is no equivalent for this in Schedule Builder. It was decided that emphasizing the evaluation in the schedule was not necessary because of the multiple emails students now get about the course evaluation period.
That said, if faculty still wish to share a link to the course evaluation somewhere in their schedule, they may do so. It is simply no longer a requirement. If you do decide you want to link to the course evaluations, the simplest method is sharing the weblink directly from the schedule.
