A graded item is an activity that can be graded. An activity can be a homework, project, quiz, exam, etc. You can link a graded item to an activity in a number of CoursePlus tools, or you can create an item to be graded.
Graded Items in a Percentage-Based Gradebook
In a percentage-based Gradebook, you have the ability to use different types of grading methods for the items in your Gradebook. The grading methods available in a percentage-based Gradebook are percentage, points, letter grade, pass/fail, and custom grade. You can use the same grading method for all graded items or use different types. The Gradebook handles all calculations in converting from a non-numeric value to a numeric value in the calculation of the final grade.
Graded Items in a Points-Based Gradebook
In a points-based Gradebook, graded items use only the points grading method. Therefore, other grading options will not be available when you create or edit a graded item in a points-based Gradebook. As there is only one grading method to use, this is the simplest way to setup your Gradebook.
